Armytrix vs Akrapovič

Two well-known names in performance exhausts, built differently. Here is what each publishes about valve control, materials, approvals and where they are made.

About this guide

We are JF Automotive, a certified Armytrix reseller and installer, so we say that up front. This guide sets out what each brand publishes about itself, with links, so you can decide for yourself. It is not a test or a sound comparison.

Valve control

Armytrix builds its range around valved systems. Most kits come with a wireless remote with open, off and auto modes, some work with the car's own valve control, and an optional module adds a phone app.

Akrapovič offers a Sound Kit on selected Slip-On systems to control the sound from the cockpit, and includes a remote with its Evolution link-pipe sets. On some cars its valves are worked through the car's own drive modes.

Materials and where they are made

Armytrix publishes T304 stainless steel and titanium systems. It does not publish where its factory is.

Akrapovič is based in Ivančna Gorica, Slovenia, and does its development, sound engineering, testing and production in-house, including its own titanium casting since 2009. It uses titanium alloys, stainless steel, carbon fibre and Inconel.

Type approval

Akrapovič offers Slip-On systems with or without EC/ECE type approval, and selected Evolution systems carry it. It notes that fitting some options, such as its Sound Kit or a downpipe, ends that approval.

Armytrix does not publish EC, ECE or TÜV approval for its systems. If type approval matters to you, that is a real difference.

Which suits you

If you want a remote or app to switch the sound on a wide range of cars, with coloured tip options, Armytrix is built around that. If you want type-approved systems or titanium cast in-house, Akrapovič publishes both. Either way, check the system listed for your exact car.
