Valvetronic exhausts

A valvetronic exhaust has valves inside the silencers, so you choose the sound: quiet when you want it, loud when you do. Here is how they work, and every car we list one for.

How a valvetronic exhaust works

Inside the silencers are valves. With the valves closed, the exhaust gas takes the longer route through the silencer and the car is quieter. With them open, the gas flows more directly and you hear the full sound of the engine.

Armytrix builds its systems in T304 stainless steel, with titanium versions for many cars. Titanium is lighter and costs more.

How you switch the valves

Most Armytrix kits come with a wireless remote that has three modes: open, off and auto. In auto, the valves open at the engine speed or throttle position you set. Some kits work with the car's own valve control instead, and each kit page shows what is in the box.

There is also an Armytrix phone app. It connects through an optional module that plugs into the car's diagnostic port, works as a remote and shows live data from the car.

Armytrix sets the valves to open on their own above 4,500 rpm or 0.8 bar of boost as a safety measure, even with the remote set to off.

Valvetronic or a standard sports exhaust?

A sports exhaust without valves sounds the same all the time. With valves you get both: a quieter car for the motorway, early starts and the neighbours, and the full sound when you want it.

Road use, the MOT and your insurer

A cat-back valvetronic system keeps the car's catalytic converters. Any kit that removes them is marked off-road only on its page. Close the valves for the MOT, use the quieter setting where noise matters, and tell your insurer about any modification.

Questions

What is a valvetronic exhaust?

An exhaust with valves in the silencers that you open for the full sound and close for a quieter drive. Armytrix calls its valved systems valvetronic.

How much is a valvetronic exhaust?

Armytrix valvetronic systems on this site start at £1,449 including VAT and free UK delivery. The price depends on the car, the material and the tips you choose.

Can I control the valves from my phone?

Yes, with the Armytrix app and its optional module, which plugs into the car's diagnostic port. Most kits also come with a wireless remote, and some use the car's own valve control.

Is a valvetronic exhaust legal in the UK?

A cat-back valvetronic system keeps the catalytic converters, but the car must still pass the MOT, including the noise check. Close the valves for the test and tell your insurer about the modification. Kits that remove the catalytic converter are sold for off-road use only.

Do you fit them?

Yes. JF Automotive is a certified Armytrix installer in Maidstone, Kent. Ask for a fitted price on any kit and we quote one figure for the parts and the labour.

What warranty do I get?

Armytrix covers its systems for 12 months from installation when a certified installer fits them.
